Sacramento’s rank among the major metros for personal income

If you piled up all of the money earned last year by all of the residents of the metro Sacramento area, you’d wind up with a stack of almost $113 billion.

That’s according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, which has released its annual rankings of total personal income (TPI). Click on the slideshow below for a rundown of the metropolitan areas (including Sacramento) that are above $30 billion.

TPI is defined as the income received by all residents from all sources (everything from wages to welfare payments) in a given year.

Sacramento rankled 25th among the nation’s biggest cities, with TPI of $112.89 billion and a per capita income of $49,639.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis has calculated TPI for 382 metro areas across the country. You can find them all in the list below.
